Public Computers and WiFi
Public computers, WiFi, and printing are not available.
Public computers are available at all branches. Members using the library computers must abide by the Technology Use Policy for Library Members. Computer use is first-come, first-served for up to three hours. Computers are available when the branch opens until 15 minutes before it closes. All computer users need a library card.
All computers automatically shut down 15 minutes before the branch closes. Check branch hours.
All computers have USB ports (to use with USB drives), internet access and additional software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Accessibility options (magnification, text narration, on-screen keyboard) are available on all public computers. An accessible keyboard and trackball mouse are available at each branch. The Central Library has a dedicated accessibility computer equipped with JAWS (Job Access with Speech) screen-reader program.
Printing, photocopying and scanning are available at all locations. The first 10 black and white pages printed each day are free. Additional printing costs 10 cents per page for black and white and colour printing is 25 cents per page.
You can also use our wireless printing service, Print on the Go. Submit your print job online, receive confirmation and go to any branch to release and pick up your print. Bring your library card. Here’s a Quick Steps instruction sheet.
Hamilton Public Library offers online computer classes and individual virtual appointments to help with basic technical issues, such as downloading eBooks and using our online resources.
Wireless (HPL_Guest)
HPL’s wireless network complements computer access and enables Members to use online resources and the internet with their wireless-enabled equipment. Wi-Fi is available during open hours and outside the branch 24/7.
