Starting Monday, February 2, Central Library's daily hours will move back to a 9 am opening instead of 8 am, Monday through Saturday. Please make note of this new service change for your next visit. www.hpl.ca/hours

Daily print balances for black and white and colour printing change January 2, 2026. The new daily print balance is 40 cents. Members receive four free black and white copies or two free colour copies.

Bring back your borrowed library items within 28 days to avoid a replacement or lost fee. We'll remove the fee when you bring back your overdue items.

What is Interlibrary Loan?
If HPL does not own a copy of an item that a Member needs, the Member can request that we borrow the item from another library in Ontario or Canada.
Are there any restrictions?
We are unable to provide the following types of materials:
- New Books (24 Months); Bestsellers
- Rare And Fragile Books
- CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and Games
Any item that is available for less than $5.00 through Amazon.caArticles that are available full-text through our online resources- eBooks and online resources
Please note the following limitations:
- A limit of five (5) member requests per month
- One title per request form.
- These requests usually take approximately four to six weeks to fill, and requests filled from outside of Ontario often take longer
- We cannot guarantee fulfillment by a certain date.
- Items borrowed through interlibrary loan cannot be renewed.
- Late and Replacement fees apply to Interlibrary Loan material ($1.00 per day and $25.00 replacement fee.)
- Reciprocal Borrowers are not permitted to request books through our Interlibrary Loan Service.
