Public computers are available at all branches. JAWS (Job Access With Speech) computers are not available.
Printing is available at all branches.
Photocopying and scanning is available at all branches except at Westdale & Concession.
Public Wi-Fi is available at all branches.
Makerspace services are available at select locations.

Repair Café - Volunteer Fixers

Program Overview

Repair Cafés promote sustainability, foster community spirit, encourage lifelong learning, skill building and intergenerational connections. Repair Café “fixers” share a variety of skills to help community members fix common household items. HPL is looking for keen restorers, menders, and handy people to volunteer at upcoming Repair Cafes. Repair categories include small appliances, electronics, sewing, jewelry, bicycles and more.

Time Commitment

• 2-3 hours per session

• Quarterly sessions

Qualifications

• An interest and ability to fix something (please tell us what you repair)

• Possess manual dexterity and ability to handle, lift, and move objects and use tools

• Attention to detail

• Creative, inquisitive mindset

• Patient demeanor when teaching others

• Able to interact with others in a positive, and professional manner

Responsibilities

• Communicate with the customer to decide what the problem is, and how to fix it
